PC Security Explorer 2 - User Guide and FAQScreenshots - More DetailsMonitoring The monitoring function is used for continuous informing about suspicious application detection. If such situation occurs, appropriate message with additional information will be displayed. To enable monitoring, select appropriate options: Keyboard Monitoring programs, which may view characters entered using keyboard, and at the same time using the Internet connection - protects against launching e.g. applications trying to capture passwords e.g. for e-mails, Web or bank accounts, etc. Internet Detect programs using the Internet. Address book Detecting applications using system address book (e.g. worms, which may be using address book to receive e-mail addresses and then to send itself to them). Connecting Detect applications which may be connecting or disconnecting to the Internet (e.g. dialers). Application modification Detect applications which may be modifying other applications. This is how viruses act to infect other files. Digital signature Detect applications that may be using a digital signature cardreader. This is important, when the digital signature cardreader is installed on the computer. Autostart This function displays a list of programs starting when the system starts, which may need to be verified by the user. It is advised to delete entries with suspicious status, if the programs are unknown to user. Below the list you can find some buttons: Refresh - refresh program list Info... - shows additional information about selected application, i.e. its name, producer, version etc. (if such information is given in the application). Accept as trusted - accepts application as trusted - messages concerning protection of this application will not be displayed. Delete from autostart - removes selected item from autostart - the application will not be launched when the system starts. There are also other fields available to select: Show all running applications - shows a list of all running applications, launched from autostart, including system and trusted applications Show trusted - shows applications accepted as trusted.
