Creating Drum Kit TAB Score

TAB or Tabular score is a form of written music that can be read by a musician. The type of tab can vary but SequBeat creates a very basic and easy to understand version.

To Create:

Make sure you have saved your work and have created your song or pattern list.

Select File/Print Song Score. SequBeat will minimize and notepad will open with a copy of the score for you to print out or save.

You will notice first the Song title. If you have not saved the song it will show Untitled song. At the top of each pattern it will give timing and BPM information including how many times the pattern is to be repeated.

Each pattern will also show each beat and sub beat. Each instrument played is shown in the channel it has been put into, with a description at the end of each line or channel. It is important to make sure you place your instruments in a sensible way for easy reading.

Creating your own Kits

First select Kit Maker in the Edit menu. You will be asked if you wish to use the current kit as a template. This means that you may use the current kit and copy new wave files over existing ones. Example: if you like a kit but don't like the cymbals you can copy new cymbals over the top and save the kit as a new improved kit.

Select the kit piece you wish to change, e.g. Kick, Snare, Tom1 etc. by clicking on the radio button next to it then click on the Load Sample button. Locate the Wave file you wish to use (** NB do not use compressed wave files as they will not work) and load into the library. When you are satisfied click on the Save Library button and save your new kit library.

At any time you can click on the Play button to listen to the wave sample. To add a sample to the bottom of the list click on the ' + ' button. The sample will initially be blank so you will need to load up a sample. This section of SequBeat is probably the most unique feature in a program of its kind.
