Frequently Asked Questions - GetMIDI
- Why don't some MIDI files work as ringtones?
Most new mobile phones now support MIDI ringtones, but some restrict the maximum size. Samsung for example, tend to limit files to 32K. Some other phones and networks don't allow files larger than 64K. Occasionally files below this limit may not be compatible, and we are working on resolving this issue. As mobile phone capacities get larger, the limits mentioned may well be removed.
- How do I use GetMIDI to find ringtones for my mobile phone?
MIDI ringtones are just normal MIDI files, though usually the smaller files work best. We recommend that you set the maximum file size to 64K (in the settings window), then perform a search as usual. To upload a ringtone right-click on a file and choose 'Upload as Ringtone'.
Once you have uploaded ringtones to your WAP site, they can be viewed by anyone who enters your private URL into their mobile phone or web browser. The part is the last five characters in your GetMIDI access code. If you don't want anyone to have access to your ringtones, don't let them know these digits. (paid version only)
- How do I download several files at once?
When you have completed a search multiple files can be selected by clicking them whilst holding down the Ctrl key. When you have selected the files you want, right-click on one of them and choose 'Bulk Download...' > 'Selected Files'. To download the entire list, choose 'Bulk Download' > 'All Files in List'. (paid version only)
