Choppy Audio Output - Broadcast Processor Plugin

You have 2 ways to solve this:

  1. If you want to use the Broadcast Processor Plugin (recommended)
Go to any module and press on the "Plugins Setup" button, then "Broadcast Processor Plugin". Now the plugin itself pops up. Right-click on the plugin and you will see a menu. Here you choose "set latency". Now increase the values "Num Buffers" and "Buffer Size". After doing so shut down all DRS 2006 modules and restart the On Air Studio. Increase the values till it does not garble anymore during the fades. You must find a optimum setting here which fits exactly to your PC, so if it works fine, decrease these values again till you reach the optimum.

  2. If you do not want to use the Broadcast Processor Plugin
Simply disable the plugin in the Launcher. There is a button "DRS 2006 Plugins Setup". Here uncheck all modules in the Broadcast Processor section.

What do you need to stream with ShoutCast?

Here is a short basic overview to get you started with your ShoutCast stream. To stream to a Shoutcast (mp3, mp3PRO) Server, you need a combination of things:

  1. Content to broadcast such as music and sweepers etc.
  2. A player. Such as Winamp (beginners setup)
  3. An encoder. Such as the DSP Plugin for Winamp (beginners setup)
  4. A streaming service. Such as the DRS 2006 Radio Streamer

Frequently Asked Questions - DRS 2006

  1. How to creating ASX and PLS files?
Once you have set up your server, we highly recommend to use pls files (ShoutCast Server) or asx files (Windows Media Server) to connect to your stream. These files are uploaded to your webserver and you simply palce a link to those files on your websites. By using these files you have a little more fixibility. If you must chnage a link for example, you dont need to chnage many websites. You just need to change one file. But thats not all. These script files also offer a few more functions like showing banners, headers and other information. When using asx files, you can even display complete websites in the Windows Media Player 9 itself. Or small neat flash files.

  2. How can listeners reach my stream?
Basically your listeners need a player. You can listen to ShoutCast mp3 streams by using common free players like Winamp, the Real Audio Player, Freeamp or the Windows Media Player. In our opinion Winamp delivers the best quality. But this is up to your listerns.

  3. I have found a weird bug. If I insert some audio files in the database, the full length of the file is not displayed properly in the Audio Manager. What can be reason for this?
It took us a long time to find this one, but we finally were able to reproduce it. This problem is caused by Windows Media Player. It seems that the Windows Media Player 6.4 can't calculate mp3 files with variable bitrates properly. Please convert these files back to wav (Can be done with Winamp) and then encode them without a variable bitrate. Now it should work fine.

  4. I have a problem with the Audio Manager. It just doesn't let me read in some mp3s. Others are OK. Can you help me?
Yes, Marco. This happens if you have mp3s that are write-disabled. If you copy for example mp3-files from a CD to your hard disk then they are write-disabled. The solution is very simple. Tag the whole directory in which your audio files are and change its attribute with the windows explorer.

  5. I successfully installed DRS 2006 a week ago and everything worked out well. Now every time two songs fade into each other there are glitches or some sort of bubbling. What went wrong?
That's a common but well known problem. If you install another mp3 player then winamp or the windows media player, a different mp3 codec will be installed as well. This is also done by some DVD players. But not all mp3 codecs are capable of playing two or more mp3 files at the same time. This is indeed a basic need for the use of DRS 2006. By the way, this can also cause delays when launching a playout. The problem can simply be solved by getting rid of the new codec. Normally this can be done by deinstalling the new software. If this does not help then launch the Windows Media Player and play a mp3 file. If Windows can't find a codec, it will download the normal version automatically from the net.

  6. After inserting audio my titles don't appear in the On Air Studios.
Open your DRS 2006 Search Engine or locate Reset & Refresh in the Studio. Click this button. Now your files will appear.

  7. When I try to insert items into Audio Manager I get this error.
Close the active module. Then open the Database Utility. From here you should choose HRDat.dbf, and then go to Tools>Reindex.

  8. So how does it work?
All DRS 2006 products are available for you to link to and make money when someone orders through your website!
