Universal Document Converter as a network printer
Network usage of Universal Document Converter allows transferring most of calculations from workstations to the print server. It results in improving usability when working with multipage documents and large drafts whose conversion used to take much time when processed on a workstation. Documents are placed in queue and processed on the print server while the users carry on their work without waiting for conversion process to finish.
Install and configure Universal Document Converter for network printing:
- Server and workstations system requirements:
Windows 2000 or Windows XP or Windows 2003
- Print server adjustments:
- Install Universal Document Converter. This computer will function as print server. It will rasterize documents and save them as graphics files. Ouput files will also be saved on this computer if you do not specify some other network location for them.
- Share the installed copy of Universal Document Converter using "Start->Settings-> Printers". Specify "UDC" as network printer name.
- Workstation(s) adjustments:
- If a workstation is already supplied with local Universal Document Converter copy with version number different from the one installed on your server, remove the local printer using "Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs".
- If a workstation is already supplied with network Universal Document Converter with version number different from the one installed on your server, remove it using "Start-> Settings->Printers" and pressing DEL button.
- Restart the workstation if you have removed older versions of the program.
- Install network printer by pressing "Add Printer" in "Start->Settings->Printers" and selecting "UDC" network printer located on the server.
