Snooker&Pool 1.0 - User Guide and FAQScreenshots - More Details
Basic Play When it is a player's turn, control is via the mouse. The cue ball can be placed on the table by clicking on the desired spot. If the spot is valid then the ghost target cursor will move to the spot. Otherwise the target will remain in the last valid spot. The suitable target area is different for both pool and snooker. When deciding on where to hit the ball, the cue stick is automatically lined up with the cue ball. By moving the mouse over the table, the line of the shot is moved about from the cue ball to the mouse position. The target line is changed to show this line across the table to an edge or pocket. If, when the cue ball is traveling down this line, a collision would occur with a colour ball then the ghost target ball is moved to the point of impact. If the cue ball would hit the edge first then the target ball will not be visible. Depending on the skill level chosen, there may also be arrow indicating the direction of the cue ball and the target ball after impact. The size of the arrows decrease depending on the distance of the impact from the cue ball and the hardness of the difficulty level. Eventually they will not be shown over a certain distance. By clicking on the right mouse button, the view along the cue will be shown on the main display. However it is not possible to control the cue from here. Releasing the mouse button will return to the standard overhead view. Once it is lined up, to draw back to cue to select the power of the shot, hold down the left hand mouse button and move the mouse away from this point. The further the mouse is drawn away, the further back the cue stick will go until the maximum force is reached. By returning the mouse to the original point then the force will be decreased again. To cancel the force selection, return the cue stick to touching the cue ball and release the mouse button. The aiming chevron will appear as yellow when there cue stick will be release without hitting the ball. The cue stick can be hit forward by releasing the mouse button. The cue stick will hit the cue ball with the appropriate force, and hopefully produce a good result. Snooker A snooker game runs until all the colour balls on the table have been potted. Players gain points for potting target colours, and lose them for fouls. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins. The game ends once there are no more balls to be potted. At the start of the game there are 15 red balls formed in a triangle and 6 varied colour balls. The cue ball must always be placed in the semi circular D. At the start of the game, the first player places it. At the start of each player's turn (or frame), the initial target colour is red. If there are no red balls available then the target colour will be the first available in the order of yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and finally black. If the target ball is correctly potted, the player may take a shot at another ball. If they miss, or commit a foul, the frame ends and the other player takes a turn. If the potted target ball is a red and there are still red balls remaining on the table, the player may choose which colour ball becomes the target. The game automatically assigns the target ball in the control panel depending on which ball is aimed at. If the 'Lock' option is checked, the auto-aiming will be disabled and the player may choose themselves which colour to aim for. If there are no more reds on the table, the target ball is forced to be a specific colour in the order above. If the potted ball is a colour and there are still reds on the table, the colour ball is respotted on the table and the target colour returns to be red. If this red is potted then again a colour can be chosen. And so on until all the reds are potted. Once all the reds have been potted, coloured balls then cease to be returned to the table once potted. Players score 1 point for each red legally potted, and variable points for each colour ball, from 2 points for the yellow ball up to 7 for the black in the order of yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and finally black. Points are removed if a foul is committed. These fouls are:
