Frequently Asked Questions - Battleship Chess

1. I can't seem to download the full version.
   
   You need a valid unlock key, which you must purchase. Note that Starships Unlimited uses new keys in version 3.1, so you may need to request a new key from me. To download, you need to turn off multiple streams (accelerated mode) on your download manager (like GetRight), if you have one. The files are small enough, that you don't need accelerated mode. If you can't temporarily disable your download manager, consider using another browser to download the game. You may need to temporarily disable your firewall (e.g. Zone Alarm Pro, Norton Internet Security) as they can interfere with your requests.
   
   
2. I lost my key. How do I get a new one?
   
   No problem, just send me an email with the name and email address you used when ordering. The more information you provide the better. Once verified, I'll email you your new one.
   
   
3. How can I order without a credit card?
   
   You can order by PayPal, Check (US or UK), International Money Orders or Bank Wire. If you don't want to give your credit card information over the web, you can order using the phone, fax or regular mail. Just press the "Order" button on the Store page and it will take you through the process. Note that all these options add an extra $3 processing to your order.
   
   
4. Are upgrades free?
   
   Yes, except for "Starships Unlimited Divided Galaxies", which is an offshoot of the series. I do reserve the right to change this policy at any time, though.
   
   
5. Where's the unlock key I ordered?
   
   Check the email receipt that was sent to you. If you can't find it, I'll send it to you again. That email contains your unlock key. When ordering both, a second email will be send to you with your Battleship Chess key. If you ordered by check, fax, PayPal, phone or regular mail, then it takes longer to process. I've seen mail orders take more than 2 weeks to get processed. If you ordered by phone or fax, double check to see that you actually phoned or faxed, as sometimes people forget to do it.
   
   
6. Can I install the latest version over an older one?
   
   Yes, in fact, this is recommended. The installer will default to your old directory. If you've bought an unlock key, installing it into a new directory will require you to re-enter your key.
   
   
7. What's an unlock key and how do I use it?
   
   An unlock key is given out when you purchase the full version of the game. The key is emailed to you in your receipt email. It's important to save this email. The key is used to go to the download page and download the latest full version (not the demo) of the game. Once you install the full version, it will ask you for your unlock key, which you should enter to make the full version fully functional. You should never share your unlock key with anyone.
   
   
8. What's "Starships Unlimited Divided Galaxies"?
   
   It's an offshoot of Starships Unlimited version 2.3 that I co-developed with Matrix Games. You may get lucky and still find a copy in retail or at the Matrix Games website.
