Frequently Asked Questions - Weave Words

  1. When I run a demo, I get a strange message about "DDRAW.DLL". Why?
If you get a message about "ddraw.dll" or "DirectDraw", either you do not have direct X installed, or you do not have at least version 7 of Direct X. All our games (and virtually every other game) require that you have at least version 7 of Direct X installed for them to run.

  2. Can I play Goobs in Windowed Mode?
You sure can. When you install Goobs, a shortcut is placed on your desktop, which will launch Goobs in the default Full Screen mode. However, if you would like to play Goobs in Windowed mode, simply click the Goobs (Windowed) icon in your start menu.

  3. I tried downloading a game but it wouldn't install.
If you get an error message when you run the setup program, it is very likely the file has become corrupted during the download. Try turning off any download managers you may have and then download the file again. If it still won't install, it is likely that the corrupted file has been cached by your Internet Service Provider (big ISPs like AOL often do this). If this is the case, try waiting 24 hours before downloading again.

  4. A game runs fine on my friends computer, but not mine. Why?
Like snowflakes, no two computers are alike. Ok, that's probably not true but the fact is most computers do come with different bits of hardware installed. The best thing to try is to download the most recent drivers for your video and sound cards, and get the latest version of Direct X too. And if all else fails you could distract your friend with a shiny object, then quickly swap computers while they aren't looking.
