How to use PeakStars MagicMedia

  1. Choose the disk you want to scan for media files.

  2. Rightclick in the FileList Panel to open the associated PopUp Menu and choose "Include Subfolders". All folders of the disk will be scanned and all supported media files will be displayed on the FileList Panel.

  3. The files may be sorted by Name, Date, Size or Type.

  4. Drag&Drop one or more media files to the PlayList Panel to arrange them for a slideshow, movie series or audio playback. Click the Play-button to start the show.

  5. On the PlayList Panel, right popup click 'HTML Generator..' to create a webpage of your selected files in 2 steps.

  6. Find files on the FileList Panel using the Search Dialog ( magnifier button). Sample search: *.mpg;*laurel*;*hardy*.

  7. Doubleclick on a thumbnail in the FileList or PlayList Panel will open a player window. Step through the list of media files using the left or right arrow key (back or forward) of the player window. Click the PlayButton on the left side of the player window's ControlBar or hit spacebar to automatically play the list.

  8. Change the Frame Rate of a slideshow by rightclicking the ImagePlayer window to display its PopUp Menu. Select Settings/Slideshow Framerate.
Hot Keys:
  • F5: Refresh.
  • F2: Rename.
  • CTRL + A: select all.
  • CTRL + C: copy selected items to the clipboard.
  • CTRL + V: paste from the clipboard.
  • CTRL + U: start the shared folder upload wizard.
  • ALT + right cursor key: copy selected items from the FileList Panel to the PlayList Panel.
  • Delete : delete selected items.

  1. What is PeakStars shared folders?
    PeakStars shared folders is a new way to share images and files through the internet. The PeakStars remote server seamlessly integrates within the MagicMedia explorer. You may create your own shared folder or add friends shared folders within MagicMedia's treeview panel. Invite your friends to view shared files.
    Upload and manage your remote files with standard file operations just like they were on your local disk.


  2. How does it work?
    The PeakStars shared folders concept is based on FTP (File Transfer Protocol). When you click on the 'My PeakStars Folders' item in MagicMedia's treeview panel, the program logs into the PeakStars FTP-Server and shows the remote folders you created and added.

  3. Cannot convert audiofiles to mp3. What's wrong?
    Propably there isn't an appropriate MP3 codec installed on your system. You might try the Fhg Radium MP3 codec

  4. How do I make slideshows with audio playing in the background?
    Drag the images and audio files to the PlayList Panel, click the PlayCurrentList-Button.

  5. Can I mix videoclips of different formats and framerates in the video editor?
    Yes, open the video editor and and select the clips. They will be rendered to one clip with the desired size.

  6. How do I scan harddiscs for certain formats instead of all mediafiles?
    After MagicMedia scanned your folders, search for the file extensions you are interested in.

  7. I can only play AVI-files and asf-files but no QT-movies (.mov.) What do I have to do?
    Mov-files created with codecs introduced with QT 3.0 and higher unfortunately don't support DirectX.
