Pixopedia 24 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

When the mask is destroyed?

Old mask is destroyed every time a new shape is applied on the image. The new mask is created containing a newly created shape. Mask is also destroyed when some action is applied to whole image by pressing Image button.

How to draw multiple shapes/strokes and keep their masks?

Mask addition (merging) is performed by holiding Shift key while performing shape drawing. Now internal mask contains old drawing merged with a new one. Pressing Mask button will apply selected action on both drawings (shapes).

Example of Pixopedia 24 concept

The best way to understand the general idea is to perform a step by step example. So, here we go:

1.Start Pixopedia 24 and create a new image with black background.
2.Click on the brush icon to invoke brush settings.
3.Select the first brush: neon-brush and set parameters:

  • Linear fall-off 100%
  • Click on the basic parameters tab and set:
  • Size = 40
  • Capacity = 100
  • Step = 1
  • Set all other basic parameters to 0
  • Clik on brush effects tab
  • Check blur kernel and set value to 3
  • Check bump scale and set value to 4
  • By clicking red arrows, set bump offset to (-1, 1)
  • Press OK button to close brush settings form
4.Set foreground color to red.
5.Select Draw action, select normal method and set color scheme to Foreground
6.Move mouse cursor on image and right click the mouse button. Select Free hand shape.
7.Draw a shape on canvas holding the lef mouse button down. Release the mouse button, the shape is drawn.
8.Now, to see how the masking works, click on textures button, select some texture and press OK button to close textures form.
9.Change Color choice to Texture aligned
10.Press Mask button, red color in our bumped drawing is replaced by texture.
11.Now select some other texture.
12.Change method toEqualize
13.Press Mask button. Previous texture is equalized with new texture.
14.Invoke brush settings, uncheck bump scale and press OK
15.Now try to apply some filter, noise, pixels shifting or any other effect on the same shape, again by pressing Mask button.

Why to uncheck bumpining in step number 14 ?
This is because all actions except drawing would bump again already bumped shape. However, you can try to apply some filter with bumping on, as also nice effects can be obtained.
