The Callaway Handicap System

The Callaway System is an ideal way to handicap tournaments when many players lack an established handicap or when there is a mix of players with varying skills. It is complex, but the software does all the calculations for you, displays the calculation on the scorecard, and prints a Detail Log table for permanent records.

The software searches for the worst scores on the first 16 of a player's card and then sums the scores for a certain number of holes based on the gross score. A second adjustment is then made to yield the Callaway Net Score. Scores over twice par on a hole are not counted and the maximum adjustment is 50.

The Scheid System

The Scheid System has many similarities to the Callaway System but adjustments can exceed 50, making the Scheid System an ideal system for events that include novice golfers. Scores as high as 150 can be adjusted and compete for the championship.

Stableford Systems

Five ranking options are provided for Stableford events, which can run faster than other types of tournaments because a player picks up the ball on any hole if a bogey cannot be made. The English System, Modified Stableford and Point Quota Systems award points on each hole based on the score relative to par, with the object being the accumulation of the most points. The option is given to award points based on the gross or net score for each hole. The Point Quota System is used for players with established handicaps. A player's Quota is 36 minus the handicap and only points over the Quota are counted.

System 36

This system is ideal for tournaments with fields of players with average skills. The handicap is determined in two steps. First, for every hole scored par or better, 2 points are added and for every bogey, 1 point is added. Second, the total number of points is subtracted from 36, yielding the adjustment for the round. With the maximum adjustment of 36, novice golfers will not be competitive.

The Peoria System

Two ranking options are provided for Peoria System scoring. For both options, the Tournament Director secretly selects six holes and competitors do not know which holes have been selected. After play is completed, scores for the six holes are summed in the Standard System and the number of strokes over par is multiplied by a factor to yield an adjustment to gross score. For Double Peoria scoring, scores on the other 12 holes are summed and the multiplier is halved. The maximum adjustment is 40. Select from 3 multipliers.
