Guide to install and update add-in

  • The distribution packages of our add-ins are packed in archive files of the ZIP format so you will have to unpack them before installing any of our add-ins.

  • The operating systems Windows XP and 2003 have built-in support of the ZIP format and do not require any additional software to be installed in order to work with such archives. Just double-click on the file with a distribution package (for example, the file outlook_nntp.zip) and the archive will open as a regular folder.

  • The operating systems Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000 require special archive software to be installed on the computer in order to work with ZIP archives. Such programs are called WinZip (http://www.winzip.com/) or CuteZip (http://www.globalscape.com/cutezip). If such a program is installed, a click on a distribution package will start it and you will be able to unpack the distribution files from the archive into the folder you specify on your computer.

  • There are four files in each distribution package:
    file_id.diz
A brief description of the program
    history.txt
A list of modifications for the program version
    license.rtf
    The license agreement
    setup.exe
    Add-in installation wizard

  • To install the add-in, execute the file setup.exe and follow the instructions of the installation wizard. Note the following:
You should close Microsoft Outlook before you start the installation wizard.
Each add-in can be installed either for all users or only for me. You can select the type of installation at the third step of the installation wizard (on the Customer Information step). If you select to install it For all users, the add-in will not be added to COM Add-ins and you will not be able to enable/disable it without reinstalling it.

  • After you finish the installation wizard, start Microsoft Outlook and you will see the First Start Wizard that will give you some brief information about the program, where it is located and how to start it. The last step of the wizard offers you the choice either to enter the registration code or start the program in trial mode.

  • Add-in updates can be installed on top of its previous versions. It will keep all current add-in settings and you will not have to enter the registration code again.

To do this, open the Add and Remove Programs dialogue box (Control Panel \ Add and Remove Programs), select the program in the list and click Support Information. You can find out the number of the latest version on the Downloads page of our site. The list of modifications in your version is available in the History section of each product's page.

    8. How is it possible that I cannot disable your add-in What are disabled items?
You may be at some point be faced with the following situation while trying to enable an add-in: you select the checkbox next to the name of the add-in, close the window, open it again, but the checkbox is not selected.

If you see an error message in this case, it means that Microsoft Outlook tried to load the add-in, but something caused an error during the attempt. In this case you should contact our technical support service.

However, if there is no error message displayed, in most cases it means that the add-in is in the list of disabled items and Microsoft Outlook did not even try to load it.

To look through the list of disabled items, select About Microsoft Office Outlook in the Help menu and click the Disabled Items button in the dialog box. Find the add-in in the list, select it and click Enable. After that enable it as it is described in questions 5 and 6.
