- what is a nickname?
Nicknames" are used to identify people. These are not the same as nicknames in real life, but are a short name which can be used to identify you.
- What's a channel?
There are likely to be a lot people online, it would get a bit confusing if everyone talked at once. Instead, people divide into smaller groups to chat; these groups are called "channels".
- What's a Bulletin Board?
Bulletin Board is designed to help colleagues or coworkers to share important information with rich text formatting, pictures and animation support. Each user can post up to three bulletins. After posting, these messages will be automatically spread to other Vypress Chat clients. There is no need in any dedicated server to support Bulltetin Board messages replicat.
- What's a File Sharing?
File Sharing feature is designed for simplifying sharing multiple files among the users. Just drag'n'drop any file or group of files to the File Sharing Options dialog or any Vypress Chat editor and that files will be accessible through a HTTP protocol.
- Is it possible to configure Vypress Messenger so that users are able to receive messages but not send messages?
Yes, it is possible. We have developed a special "receive-only" program called Vypress Auvis. Vypress Auvis is specifically designed for users with locked-down workstations. Auvis receives messages from Vypress Messenger, WinPopup and other similar sources, but it does NOT allow users to send messages. It has a very simple interface and many hidden configuration settings (for example, you can adjust the settings to prevent users from closing Auvis or even from moving or resizing the program's window). For more information, please visit http://www.vypress.com/products/auvis/.
- Is there a way to replicate the address book from one computer to the other so I don't have to rekey all the users and IP addresses?
Yes. Look in the folder where you have Vypress Messenger installed for the file AddressBookMaintenance.exe. Use it to export or import Address Book content. See HOW-TO: Shared Users Group in Vypress Messenger's Address Book for additional information.
