Here are the problems with other "Popup Stoppers" on the market:
Blocks Wrong Popups - Some popup killers stop even the ones you NEED to pop up - Like when you purposely click on a link for more information! (Popup Shield uses "smart technology" to automatically tell what you want to open - and what you don't)
Uses Too Much System Resources - Most popup killers load into your computer's memory even if you're not going online! Popup Shield only starts when you open your browser window, or can be started when in many other ways.
Slows Down Your Web Surfing - Even though popup killers are supposed to help you surf the web easier, some of them actually slow down your browser! Popup Shield is a very small program - you won't even know it's running (except that you won't be seeing annoying popup ads any more)
Too Complicated To Use - You don't need confusing, unnecessary options and things that can screw up if you don't do it exactly right... You just want to block the popup windows you don't want, and see the things you DO want - And that's what the Popup Shield does. technology" to automatically tell what you want to open - and what you don't)

- AOL Version 7.0
AOL v7.0 resets the proxy settings you have configured for Internet Explorer each time the AOL software is launched. Previous versions of AOL did not exhibit this behavior. Therefore, you will not be able to use Internet Explorer and BPS Popup & Cookie Shield & Ads Filter if you have AOL v7.0 installed.
Note that AOL v7.0 does not modify the proxy settings for Netscape Navigator or Opera, so you may use either of these browsers with BPS Popup & Cookie Shield & Ads Filter.
- Popup & Ads Tab
Enable Catch Pop-Ups
This option is to set the program aware of your current status so that it can protect you from annoying popups.
When you put the check mark, the program is in its active state, if you uncheck it you are not protected against popups.
Some browsers may require to close them before changing the status. If you change the status while the browsers are opened this may cause no effect.
When you want to allow popups, it is better to uncheck this option rather than exiting the whole program.
For more information go to Exit the Program section
Enable Banner Blocking
If you want to prevent banners from appearance while you surf the net you just have to check this option. Changing the status of the Ad Blocker will take effect when you restart your browsers (i.e. If there is an opened browser it will not sense the change in the status unless you close it and then open it again
- ActiveX Tab
Here you can manage ActiveX controls that may be downloaded into your computer while you are surfing the net.
There are four zones that you can manage: the internet, local intranet, trusted sites & restricted sites.
If you don't have the IE installed onto your computer or you have it with some corrupted values you will get an error message.
- Popup Window
This is a small window that appears at the right bottom side of your window in case of initially starting the program or when a new popup is caught.
The number of popups is counted simply from the date of installation. To reset this counter just click the Clear button.
- Exit the program
When you press the ok, cancel, apply or even the close button on the top right side of the program window, the program will be minimized not closed.
To exit the program you should right click on the system tray & choose Exit from the menu.
But note that when you exit the program you will not be able to surf the net. So if you want to allow popups to appear in your pc, just disable the program but don't close it.
