Frequently Asked Questions - AllegroSurf
- I cannot access a Web page, or it does not display properly?
Some Web sites insist on using Web features that AllegroSurf may filter. For example, some sites depend heavily on JavaScript to function properly. You have to decide whether using the Web site is more or less important to you than filtering out whatever things the site requires. AllegroSurf allows the user to specify site-specific filtering rules.
- When starting AllegroSurf ,''AllegroSurf cannot create a listening socket on port 80, Another copy of AllegroSurf may be running or the port may already be in use'' is displayed. How can I fix it?
AllegroSurf is an HTTP proxy server that runs on your computer. Like all Internet server programs, AllegroSurf listens for connections from your Web browser on a particular TCP/IP port. AllegroSurf normally listens for connections on port 80 or if the installation program detects port 80 is in use AllegroSurf listens on the next available port. The AllegroSurf installation program configures your Web browsers to find AllegroSurf listening on this port.
