Frequently Asked Questions - GetRight
- Click monitoring doesn't work on a specific web site. Why?
Sites that use scripted re-directs to files (such as CGI, ASP, or javascript) can confuse GetRight. Try holding CTRL and ALT when clicking the link you want if it isn't working automatically. This will force GetRight to try and download the file.
- Click monitoring stopped working all of a sudden. Why?
If you've recently upgraded or re-installed your browser (or upgraded Windows) that might have written over GetRight's click monitoring settings. Go to the "monitor" page of the configuration window and turn click monitoring off (close the window to apply the changes) then go back and turn click monitoring back on.
Another possibility is that some sites, which use CGI re-directs to files, can confuse GetRight. Try holding CTRL and ALT when clicking the link you want if it isn't working automatically. This will force GetRight to try and download the file.
- GetRight downloads slower than my browser. Why is that?
If you have used TweakDUN, or other similar programs, which are supposed to speed up your transfers, they seem to have the opposite effect in GetRight. Try disabling them or reverting to the original settings and see if that helps.
If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, check the proxy settings in GetRight (the proxy page of GetRight's configuration.) Incorrect or missing settings can cause GetRight to download slowly.
- How do I set up an auto-proxy?
If you can download the auto-proxy PAC file (this is what you are linking to in your browser). Then view it in Notepad; it will contain the actual proxy settings. Enter these into GetRight's proxy field. GetRight 4.0 and higher will also prompt about processing the file itself and try to find the proxy settings...but if it can't find them, you may still be able to find them by viewing the file in Notepad.
- The "Enter Code" button is grayed out
Download and run this file (less than 1K in size). This will bring back the "Enter Code" field.
This will also fix if you do have a good paid-for code, but GetRight says it is not valid when you type it in.
- The download window says "connecting" but doesn't. What's wrong?
If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, check the proxy settings in GetRight (the proxy page of GetRight's configuration.) Incorrect or missing settings can cause GetRight never to connect.
