Frequently Asked Questions - Intellyweb
- Uploading fails. I get a "Can't log in..." message or an error message that Intellyweb can’t remove certain files or I publish successfully but when I visit my URL my website isn’t there.
You probably will need to upload your files into a sub folder on the web server (often referred to as “Remote folder”). Please check your login information or contact your web host for this information and fill in the folder name under “Subfolder” in the “Site manager”.
- When I try to publish I get this messagage:
• Upload started xxxx-xx-xx xx:xx:xx
• Creating html pages
• Connecting to server...
• Can't connect to server. Please check your host address and/or your network connection.
• Upload completed with errors xxxx-xx-xx xx:xx:xx
This message shows when Intellyweb for some reason can’t get in touch with the destination server. There could be a few reasons for that.
1. Make sure you have a working internet connection.
2. Make sure you filled in the details that you received from your web host correctly. If you entered a “host address” beginning with “ftp://” try removing the “ftp://” in the beginning of the address and enter the host address without it.
3. Some web hosts require that you put your files in a *Remote directory. In these cases you need to fill in the remote directory under “Subfolder” in the site manager. This problem can also give other error messages.
- What happens if I must change my FTP-address (for example if I change my domain name)?
Just change the details in the "Site manager" from within Intellyweb.
- When I try to publish I get this messagage:
• Upload started xxxx-xx-xx xx:xx:xx
• Verification complete
• Uploading data...
• Web exception: The operation has timed-out.
• Upload completed with errors xxxx-xx-xx xx:xx:xx
This message shows when there has been too much traffic on your Internet connection or to your server or on your computer.
Try again and if possible close down simultaneous programs and processes on your computer.
- Some image show up as red X:s after I published my website. Why don’t they work?
Some web servers could have problems with filenames containing special characters and spaces like some language specific letters. To prevent this problem, never use any characters other than English a-z, 0-9 and _ instead of spaces in your file names.
- When I publish my pages the website looks funny and the images disappear on all pages, why?
When you upload using the FTP version all the files on the server are first removed and then uploaded again, therefore during the upload process the website looks funny. If you have a big website, try to publish at a time when you expect to have the least amount of visitors.
This is not an issue when working with a portal.
