Frequently Asked Questions - Cute Reminder Standard Edition
- How do I show/hide all the notes on my desktop?
Right-click the Note button on the Quick access panel to bring your notes in front of all opened windows. Right-click the Idea button to send them back. Right-click the Reminder button to minimize all opened windows and show your desktop; right-click it again to undo.
- How do I distinguish an idea from a note? They look very similar!
They have different colors. Default colors for notes are blue, yellow and red, while the idea's color is green.
- How do I terminate Cute Reminder?
Please select "Quit application" from the "File" menu of the Control center. Alternatively, you can right-click the "Control center" button on the Quick access panel and select "Exit" from the pop-up menu.
- How do I start Cute Reminder again after I have terminated it?
Please press the "Start" button on the Windows task bar. The start menu will appear. Select "All Programs" then Cute Reminder folder and then click on Cute Reminder. Alternatively, you can double-click the Cute Reminder icon on your desktop.
- I have added an idea. When it will appear on my desktop?
An idea will appear on your desktop looking similar to a note after the time period specified in the "Options" tab of the "Preferences" window (three (3) days by default). To open the "Preferences" window, please open the Control center and select "File" then "Preferences..." from the menu.
- I can not select a date before today in the calendar. Why?
The calendar is used to control upcoming events. Please select "History" from the "View" menu of the Control center to see logged events.
- How do I restore my data?
Terminate Cute Reminder. Copy the previously saved Cute Reminder's data folder back to its original location. Be aware that all reminders, notes and ideas as well as history will be totally overwritten.
- The sound I have selected does not play. What is wrong?
There are several possible reasons. The file may not exist, or your system may have no necessary audio decoding software installed. To check what is the case, please select "Preferences" from the "File" menu of the Control center and click the "Audio" tab. Make sure that the field "Test phrase" is empty. Click on the file that you want to test and then click the "Test" button. If something is wrong, you will see an error message with a description of the problem. If a file does not exist at the specified location, click the "Browse" button to find it. If you see a message similar to "Unable to recognize file format" then your system does not have an appropriate audio decoding software installed; you may face this problem even though you can play your mp3's with another audio player such as WinAmp because players may use their own audio decoders. Please see the next topic for more details.
