Basic functions The following section describes the important features of EF Duplicate Files Manager. The functions may be reached by the main menu, by means of a context menu and the toolbar. In case a function is not permitted then the associated button or menu entry is grayed. For example, if no action is executed the Stop function will not be available. Search Start a new search process. The search phases can be more or less, depending upon the options set. For example if the option "Same contents" is selected, the contents of the files are evaluated, whereby the search procedure will sometimes extend. Stop search Terminate the active search process. This function can be used only if the program is in a search phase. Make shortcut Create for each selected file a shortcut on the Windows Desktop. If you wish the shortcut(s) at another place, you can pull there later comfortably with the mouse. Run Opens or start the selected file, depending upon the file type. Executable files are started; others loaded in the associated applications. Edit All selected files are opened in the standard Windows text editor. Start for each selected one separate instance the editor. Copy One or more selected files are copied to another place. Move Move one or more selected files to another place. Rename The selected file is prepared for renaming. Open into the result list a small inline editing window. Type here the new desired file name and press the Enter key to confirm, otherwise press ESC to cancel. Delete Move the one or more selected files to the Windows Recycle Bin. Properties Open the Windows standard properties mask to show the file specifics. Go to Open the Windows Explorer in the folder, in which is the selected file. Export List as Text Export the contents of the entire result list as text file for future purpose. Blank lines separate the dupe groups. Export List as CSV Export the entire list in the CSV format. This format is recognized and imported by numerous programs, e.g. Microsoft Excel and Access, Open Office and others. Between the different groups an empty lines added.
