Frequently Asked Questions - Giant Disk Cleaner

  1. Which operating systems are compatible with Giant Disk Cleaner?
    Giant Disk Cleaner supports the following Windows platforms: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/2003 Server/XP/Vista.

  2. What are the minimum system requirements for Giant Disk Cleaner?
    The following minimum system requirements are needed to run Giant Disk Cleaner:

    * 32MB available RAM (64MB preferred)
    * 15MB free hard disk space

  3. Is it safe to delete all files that appear in the scan result screen?
    If using the default settings, yes it is safe to assume all files are unnecessary and can be deleted. Please note that this only applies to the 'Find and remove Obsolete Files' and 'Find and remove Broken Shortcuts'.

  4. How do I know which duplicate files to delete?
    When you scan your computer for duplicate files Giant Disk Cleaner will list all the duplicates found on the selected drive(s). The does not necessarily mean you can delete all of them. Sometimes it is normal to have duplicate files (for example the Windows Sysbckup Directory). It is up to you to decide which files are needed and which ones can be deleted/removed.

    We highly recommend that you backup any duplicate files before deleting them. This will allow you to restore deleted files should a problem occur.

  5. How securely will Giant Disk Cleaner erase my files?
    Giant Disk Cleaner implements the most advanced secure erasing standards available: DOD, NSA, Gutmann and GOST. Through these advanced erasing standards your files will forever be deemed unrecoverable even with the most advanced file recovery tools.
