Frequently Asked Questions - AVI DivX to DVD SVCD VCD Converter

  1. When I open a video file, I got an error info "Fail in initializing the file!", Why?
If your file is RealMedia(.rm, .rmvb) format, you should install RealOne Player, You can download it at http://www.real.com, It's a free software for you.

If your file is other vidoe formats, It is because of there is not CODEC for this video file in your system. In normal, if your Window Media Player can play it, It supports this video file too. If your Window Media Player can't play it, you should install more CODEC to your system. You can install K-Lite Codec Pack on our recommendation. It is a free software for you. You can download it form http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm . If it still does not work, You can try to install another free Codec Pack All in 1, Download it from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm .

  2. Can it support DVD(.vob) files?
Not always, AVI DivX to DVD SVCD VCD Converter supports DVD(.vob) files, but not supports some encrypted DVD. In addition you can install DVD CODEC and then try it again. Download DVD Codec from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm .

  3. Can it support RealMedia file(*.rm,*.rmvb) ?
Yes. But it is not reliable for all rmvb files. You must install RealOne Player before converting RealMedia file to DVD/SVCD/VCD format. You can download it at http://www.real.com, It's a free software for you.

  4. I converted a video file to SVCD or DVD formats, but i can't play the converted file with Media Player, Why?
It is because of there is no CODEC of MPEG2 and DVD in your system. You should install DVD Player or more CODECS. Download DVD Codec from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm.

  5. How to create or burn VCD?
Convert your video file to VCD format with our converter, then you can burn it into blank VCD disc with NERO, VCDEasy or other Burner tools.

  6. What's a codec?
Codec stands for "COmpressor/DECompressor". Every compressed video file uses a codec to decompress the individual frames for playback. There are a great many codecs. Some come with Windows, others must be downloaded and installed before you can play back the video. Some codecs are not compatible with DirectX, which is what our converter uses to decode the video frames, in which case you will not be able to encode the video using AVI DivX to DVD SVCD VCD Converter. Try getting the latest version of the codec, it might work with our converter.

  7. It will not encode the video from my mjpeg capture card, Why?
Some mjpeg capture cards use a hardware based codec which is not compatible with the DirectShow component of DirectX. Some software mjpeg codecs are also not compatible with DirectX. You should first make sure you have the latest version of the codec. If that still does not work, then the only other thing I can suggest is to contact the manufacturer and request a DirectShow compatible version of your codec. Also make sure you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your system.
