How to use PQ DVD to 3GP Video Suite
Audio Quality The standard 3GP format uses H.263 video codec and AMR audio codec. AMR audio has two settings to choose: 32Kbps Mono or 48Kbps Mono. If your mobile phone does not support 48Kbps Mono audio, set to 32Kbps Mono. Some cell phone supports AAC audio embedded in 3gp files. AAC audio provides better quality and supports 32kbps Mono, 48kbps Mono, 48Kbps Stereo, 64Kbps Stereo, 96Kbps Stereo, 128Kbps Stereo. You must choose "MPEG4 / AAC" format in the Output Settings dialog in order to see the additional audio settings listed above. If you are not sure whether your mobile phone supports AAC audio together with video playback, just convert a short video clip and test it. If it does not play on your phone, then no go, stick with the default AMR audio format. Audio Bitrate (in Kbits per second) Audio bitrate refers to how many data storage is allocated to store audio signals. The higher audio bitrate, the better audio quality. Audio Volume You can change output audio volume in "Output Settings" dialog. The default volume level is 5 (original volume). Stereo to Mono When the output audio is set to Mono, you can choose which stereo channel (of input source) to be copied into the Mono channel (output). It is useful for some video sources (e.g. VCD) which use the left, right channels for different languages or for karaoke. Video Settings: Crop Mode: The aspect ratio(width:height) of a cell phone is usually 4:3 . However, different video sources may use different aspect ratios (e.g 4:3, 16:9, 2.35:1). Both 16:9 and 2.35:1 are widescreen. 2.35:1 is even wider than 16:9. Some DVD movie with 2.35:1 aspect ratio contains black bars on top and bottom in order to fit into 16:9 DVD standard. For 2.35:1 extra wide movies, you may choose the following crop modes based on your personal preference. Resolution (Width x Height): The standard 3GP format uses H.263 video codec and AMR audio codec. H.263 video support resolutions of 176x144 and 128x96. Some cell phone supports MPEG4 video embedded in 3gp files, which generally give better video quality and support more resolutions like 160x128, 208x160, 320x208, etc. You must choose "MPEG4 / AMR" or "MPEG4 / AAC" format in the Output Settings dialog in order to see the additional resolutions. If you are not sure whether your mobile phone supports MPEG4 video, just convert a short video clip and test it. If it does not play on your phone, then stick with the default H.263 video format. A higher resolution video requires much more processing power to play. It may cause video playback to jitter if the cell phone cannot handle it in realtime. Reduce the resolution or lower frame rate (see below) in this case. Video Frame Rate: Known as Frame Per Second (fps). It refers to the number of pictures displayed in 1 second in order to form continuous motions. However, higher fps video consumes much more processing power to decode frames. Processors in cell phone are usually not powerful enough to decode high fps video as a desktop computers do. If you see video jitters, lower the frame rate or reduce the video resolution. The default frame rate used is 12 fps. You can change it to another value in Output Settings dialog. Brightness Level: Increase the level to make video appear brighter on your cell phone screen. The default is level 0 (No brightness change from the original video). Frequently Asked Questions - PQ DVD to 3GP Video Suite
