Generate several report types

The report can be in plain text format or the report can be saved as MS Access database table.

To generate report click one of the "Report" buttons.

The following reports are currently available:

  • Broken Links Report - Only bad files and broken links are listed. Each broken link has a "status" - the reason why the link was labelled as broken ("file not found, etc.").

  • Full Report - This is a list of all checked files and all links in each file. As and the previous report, each link has a status explaining why the link was labelled as broken.

  • List of Checked Files Report - Just a list of checked files. This report type is usefull when you would like to create a list of all html documents on your website.

  • List of Redirected Links Report - Just a list of all links that were redirected to another location by the server.

  • MS Access Report - This report is available in Pro version only. It allow you to save all information about all validated files and all links as MS Access database. Before this report can be generated, HTML Link Validator asks usef for the database name and table name to which the report should be saved.

  1. What is HTML Link Validator?

    Html Link Validator is a tool for checking web pages for broken links.

    If you start own website or if you are experienced webmaster you always should test your web site for broken links. There are many reasons why the link may be broken. The file name may be typed incorrectly, or, as it often happens, the resource (file) to which you made a link becomes unavailable. Another kind of errors are the case errors - for example the link is to the file image.gif while the real filename is image.GIF. Fortunately, unlike some other validators, HTML Link Validator checks filenames case sensitively. It can catch most types of errors and give you full report on all links found in web pages or on whole website.

    It can check html pages on your computer and it can check many pages at once.

    It can check remote links, (i.e. links to webpages located somewhere in the Internet) and it can scan and check whole website - you should only supply the starting adress.

    It can validate thousands html documents at once.

    It is fast and very easy to use.


  2. How to validate files on your local computer?

    If files are on your local computer:

    1. Select "Validate HTML files on local computer".

    2. On the left plane of the main window you see drive/folder/file selector, just like Windows     Explorer.
    To validate HTML files in any folder simply double-click it. HTML Link Validator will create a list of all HTML files from this folder and all subfolders and then checks them for errors. (For example, if you double-click on your hard drive, Validator will search for ALL HTML documents on your disk).
    To validate only one HTML file double-click it.


  3. How to validate Internet shortcuts?

    1. Select "Validate internet shortcuts".

    2. On the left plane of the Link Validator window double-click a folder with shorcuts. Validator     will display a list of all found shorcuts and marks broken ones.


  4. How to validate link lists in txt files?

    1. Select "Validate HTML files on web server" and then select "I'll supply a list of files that     should be validated".

    2. Type or paste or open from a file a list of links that you would like to validate. A list should     contain one url per line.
    Click "Validate" to start validation.
