Mumble is a low-latency, high quality voice chat application intended for use alongside computer games. Mumble uses a client-server architecture where users who want to talk connect to the same server.
The design goal of mumble is to have audio quality just as good as if you were sitting in the same room, a goal that has largely been achieved. Mumble has a very simple administrative interface and most of the engineering effort is put into sound quality and low latency.
Mumble uses Speex not only as a voice codec, but also for noise reduction and automatic gain control. Mumble is optimized for low latency, resulting in faster communication. Mumble incorporates echo cancellation, which permits the use of speakers as well as headphones. With some games, like Call Of Duty on Windows, a plugin lets you hear the positional audio of other players.
Main Features of Mumble:
* Very low latency.
* Denoising of audio.
* Echo cancellation to enable playing on surround speakers.
* Automatic volume control so all players are equally loud.
* Positional audio with supported games (the voice of players comes from their direction ingame).
* Unlimited number of channels with as deep a nesting as desired.
* Per-channel groups and access control lists.
Mumble is designed for: WinXP,WinVista,WinVista x64
