What is DBX File?
DBX files are the files where Outlook Express stores its
emails or data. Outlook Express stores or saves separate
DBX files for each mail folders. All the email messages
are stored in Folders.dbx file. Folders.dbx is an index
of all Outlook Express message folders. It contains a structure
of all news groups, mail folders and some synchronization
data.
DBX files can be found in Outlook Express Store Folder.
One can find or locate the store folder using Tools menu
option. Go to Tools > Options > Maintenance
in Outlook Express. Then copy the location from the following
window:
and paste it in address bar. Then you can locate all the
DBX file of each email folders.
This page will guide you how to convert DBX to PST, EML
with DBX Converter.
Step1. Please download SysTools
DBX Converter and install it.
Step2. Open SysTools DBX Converter. Go to Start
menu » Programs » SysTools DBX Converter.
Software will display following screen:
Then Select the Mailbox Type.
•Choose Default Outlook Express Mailbox
option, if you want to convert the configured Outlook Express
mails. or otherwise
•Choose Select Other Mailbox option, if
you want to convert Outlook Express mails from another DBX
files saved in different location. Then Locate your DBX
file using Browse button.
Step3. Select or choose the email
folders to be converted as shown in the figure below:
Then Choose the Saving Options:
•Choose Save as PST option if you want
to convert DBX files to MS Outlook PST files
•Choose Save as EML option, if you want
to convert DBX emails to EML files.
Step4. Locate the path to save the converted files
(PST or EML), using Browse button as shown below:
Step5. After selecting the location to save the
converted files, click on Convert Button
to start the conversion process as follows:
