It allows you to manage your TV recordings using a web browser on any PC or mobile device, at home or anywhere in the world. WebShifter was originally built to provide a web interface for ShowShifter (hence the name WebShifter). At this moment, WebShifter supports many recording software solutions, including Virtual VCR, WinTVCap, WinTV 2000, ChrisTV, iuVCR, MyTheatre, DABDig, Fly 2000 TV and any command line based recording software.

The main features of WebShifter are:
- Manage recordings worldwide using a web browser
- Schedule new recordings with a mobile phone (WAP)
- Integrated Electronic Program guide (EPG)
- Automatic scheduling based on search criteria in the EPG
- File browser
- Password protected access

Support is also planned for additonal recording software like MediaPortal, Media Center and others.
