What defaults can you configure for iDumpPro?
- iPod name
You can give your iPod a long name. When iDumpPro updates the iPod, it will be given this name.
- iTunes program
When iDumpPro starts, it will try and locate the iTunes.exe program or give you the option to select its location. You can change this anytime by selecting the new path by clicking on the ... button.
- Skin
You can change the skin which iDumpPro uses by selecting any skin defined as msstyles. Some skins sent to us will be available as a link from the Escsoft forums.
How to export audio?
From the Music panel:
- Select the tracks you want to export using the left mouse button for single tracks or left mouse button while holding down CTL or SHIFT keys for multi select. CTL + A key selects all songs in current displayed playlist.
- Set the "export path for tracks".
- Set the export format seperating each special tag with a \. %T = song title, %L = album, %N = track number, %G = genre, %A = artist.
- Select the type of export from "No conversion", MP3, AAC, WAV, OGG, WMA. If exporting to MP3, AAC, WAV, OGG or WMA, you can set the audio quality.
- Click button "Export songs" to export selected songs or "Export playlist" to export all songs in selected playlist.
How to import audio?
Importing Follow these steps to import audio tracks into the iPod. Once all the songs are listed on the screen, you can delete the ones you do not wish to import by selecting them and then hitting DEL key or right click and select remove from list.
Add a music file
When you want to import only one audio file, click this button and select the file.
Scan folders
When you want to import lots of files, click this button, select the folder. iDumpPro will read the tags of all files it finds and add them to the list on screen. You can cancel any time by clicking on the cancel button.
Record
This will take you to the recording screen where you can record or load/edit a song before exporting ready for import. If you wish to record your own audio then see section on "Audio Editor".
How to rip CD and copy files to the iPod?
To copy the songs from CD to the iPod follow these steps:
- Inset you audio CD in to one of your drives and selected the drive.
Audio tracks will appear and if you have an internet connection, the track names will be searched on the internet. If for some reason they do not appear within a few seconds, click the Refresh tacks button.
- Select the type of audio file to create on the iPod.
- AAC - Advanced audio coding. This gives better compression than MP3 below 192bits. If you have a small iPod and want to put lots of music on it then select this option.
- MP3 - MPEG Audio layer 3. This is the most common audio format used in the world today. If you want to stream your music from the iPod with the iDumpPro audio streaming service then select this option.
- WAV - Waveform audio format - Unlike the previous compression formats, then type of file has no compression and is the best quality to have like CD's. The songs will take up a lot of iPod space. Only use this option if you have a large iPod.
- Playlist
If you want to put this CD in a playlist then select one from the list or enter a new playlist name.
- Album details
To change album details then click on the Change button and you will be taken to a screen which allows you to rename tracks and other details.
- Rip
Click on the Rip CD button to start the transfer.
How to burn CD's?
When in the Music tab, you can drag/drop songs onto the Butn to CD icon in the left hand panel. Those songs appear in this BURN tab and can be written to CD.
Follow these steps to burn your cd:
- Insert a blank CD into one of your drives.
- Select the recorder you wish to use.
- Set the recording speed, for audio cd's, low is better.
- Enter the volume name. When creating Audio cd's to use in a normal cd player, select "Audio music CD". When backing up your music to CD, you can drag and drop a lot of music to the "burn to cd" icon and then select Data CD.
- To test the disk and not actually perform a burn, you need to put a tick in the "Test only" box. 6. Click on the Burn CD button to start the cd writer.
